This article describes how to boot your computer from a CD instead of your computer’s Internal Hard Drive. This is very useful if you want to install another operating system on your computer.
For Windows PC
Insert the CD into your computer. Simply insert the CD into your computer’s CD case with the logo facing up . The CD should contain the version of Windows you are using.
Open the start menu. To do this, click or press the Windows logo in the lower left corner ⊞ Win.
In Windows 8, place the mouse pointer in the upper right corner of the screen and click the magnifying glass.

Click the Restart option at the bottom of the menu that appears.
If the program continues to run, you may be prompted to click Restart to continue.
DelAlternatively, press and hold the button F2to access the settings . The buttons you press may be different. On most computers, at startup “ press keyboard keys to enter settings . Warn the user with a message such as “. Therefore, when you restart your computer, look for this message to see which key you need to press to enter the BIOS.
For your computer’s BIOS key, see your computer’s documentation or the computer’s manufacturer’s website.
Go to the Startup tab.Use the arrow keys to select this tab .
Depending on the computer manufacturer, the name of the Boot tab may be Boot Options.
Select the CD-ROM drive option . ↓To do this, press the arrow keys until you see the box that surrounds this option.
+Press the button until the CD-ROM drive is in the home positionIt is at the top of the boot options list .
Depending on the steps listed on the right side of the BIOS screen, you may need to press another key.
Save your settings. F10Press the key at the bottom of the screen (for example) to ” Save and Exit ” It works like “”. Press the button and your computer will boot into the CD – ROM drive.
↵ EnterYou may need to press a button to confirm your changes.
Insert the CD into your computer. Simply insert the CD (logo up) into your Mac’s CD slot . The CD must contain a MacOS version that indicates it is bootable.
Some Mac computers do not have a CD slot . If your Mac doesn’t have a CD slot , get an external CD drive.
Click on the one in the upper left corner.
Click Restart . This button is at the bottom of the Apple menu.
Click Restart when prompted. Your Mac computer will restart.
Press and hold the button ⌘ Command. After your Mac restarts ⌘ Command, press and hold the button until you see the Startup Manager window .
Click the CD icon. Usually, something like ” MacOSX Installation DVD ” will appear at the bottom. Click this icon to select it.
Press ⏎ Return. Your Mac will boot from your CD drive.
