Ambient temperature refers to the range of temperatures that people prefer indoors. Measuring ambient temperature is actually very easy. You can use the thermometer in the center of the room to measure the temperature, or you can download an app that allows you to measure it on your smartphone.
Read the thermometer
Choose a digital thermometer for the most accurate results. Digital or electric thermometers are generally more expensive than other thermometers, but they can provide fast and accurate results. Digital thermometers are more responsive to temperature changes than other thermometers, so you get accurate measurements.
Some digital thermometers have the ability to save measurements. This allows you to compare how the ambient temperature changes over time.
Estimate the temperature using a glass thermometer. A glass thermometer measures temperature using a glass tube filled with liquid. When the air around the thermometer gets hot, the liquid moves to the tube. It can be used to accurately measure ambient temperature.
Choose a glass thermometer that does not contain mercury. Mercury is extremely toxic and can be dangerous if the thermometer fails.
Glass thermometers are also sometimes referred to as light bulb thermometers or liquid glass thermometers.
Choose a bimetal thermometer as an easy-to-read option . Bimetal thermometers or dial thermometers have a metal tip that moves up and down on a circular scale to indicate temperature. This tool uses pieces of metal that can expand and bend as the temperature rises. As the work expands or contracts, the tip of the gauge pointer moves. The large arrow at the tip makes it easy to control the room temperature.
Bimetal thermometers are not as accurate as digital thermometers.
Place the thermometer in the center of the room. Regardless of which type of thermometer you use, it should be placed in the center of the room at least 0.6 meters from the floor to ensure accurate room temperature measurements. If you mount the thermometer on the wall, the heat from the wall can damage the readings, which can lead to inaccurate readings.
Place the thermometer on a table or chair so that the floor temperature does not affect the readings.
Wait 5 minutes for the thermometer to indicate the ambient temperature. Wait for the thermometer to adjust its reading before checking the temperature. Thermometers, especially glass and metal thermometers, can take several minutes to accurately measure ambient temperature.
Keep away from or near the thermometer as body temperature can affect room temperature readings.
Check the temperature with a thermometer. You can check the room temperature by placing the thermometer in the center of the room, waiting a few minutes, and then checking the temperature reading. Ambient temperature is generally between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius.
Digital thermometers display the temperature on the screen and provide the most accurate results.
Read the number next to the liquid on the glass thermometer to measure the temperature.
To measure the temperature , note the numbers indicated by the arrows on the bimetal thermometer .
Using a smartphone
Download the thermometer app on your smartphone. There are many smartphones with sensors that can monitor the temperature of the device. You can download an app that uses these sensors to do a rough reading indoors. On your phone, go to the App Store and search for downloadable thermometer apps.
Go to the App Store and download the thermometer app for iPhone.
Go to the Google Play store and download the app for your Android device.
Popular thermometer apps include My Thermometer, Smart Thermometer, and iThermonitor.
Open the app. After downloading the application, find the icon on the phone screen and tap it with your finger to open it. It may take a few minutes from opening the app to updating.
You need to wait for the download to complete before you can open the app.
To measure the ambient temperature, select an approximate temperature measurement. Depending on the type of application you are using, there may be different options for reading the room temperature. Some apps allow you to check your smartphone’s battery temperature or outdoor temperature based on weather data. Select an approximate temperature measurement to see the temperature in the surrounding room.
